Sadly, the will be no Wine Fair in 2020 but watch this space for Thanksgiving 2021.

Thanksgiving Wine Fair 2019 – A Retrospective – by Gordon Minnis

A Case of Wine hosted its annual Thanksgiving Wine Fair at Summerhall, Edinburgh on Friday 22nd November 2019.

It was an amazing evening and we are delighted with how it went. Over 180 guests attended a celebration of Californian wine in a walkaround tasting format. A very broad selection included plenty of wines at less than a tenner showing you can get great value from California wines, right up to wines at over £200 per bottle.

Our main event sponsors were The Wine Institute of California and the Napa Valley Vintners Association. They have been good friends of our team in the days of Calistoga Restaurant as well as in our exciting new incarnation.

Talking about Calistoga, there was a sense of reunion about this event. A great many familiar faces were in attendance and Alastair reports (from Table 5) that his corner became a bit of a hug-fest. One of the great things about our wine business is its scale – we know our customers individually and we are privileged to count many of them as friends.

The Main Hall at Summerhall was packed for the event and we ended up having to, sadly, turn ticket requests down as the event date approached. For 2020, we may seek out more event space for this major tasting. We are also considering adding more tasting events throughout the calendar.

A Case of Wine is all about a friendly, local approach to providing fine wines at fair prices. We value every single one of our customers who support us. We hope that with word of mouth, we shall be able to add to our customer numbers and so we invite anyone who loves wine and appreciates a good deal, to sign up for our monthly newsletter.

Thanks again to everyone who supported our wine fair and who buys wine from us. Happy Thanksgiving!

Gordon.
